Sister Cities International Honors Jayne Plank and Robin Sanders at the 2016 Diplomatic Leadership Awards Reception

Washington, DC (March 8, 2016) – Today for International Women’s Day, Sister Cities International (SCI) will honor two dynamic women the Honorable Jayne Plank, former State Department Office of Intergovernmental Affairs and former Mayor of Kensington, Maryland and the Honorable Robin Sanders, former U.S. Ambassador to the Congo and Nigeria. These two women have made their mark in diplomacy and have served as advocates for women’s rights and human rights for decades.

International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. SCI values the vital role women play in diplomacy and furthering global connections for a more peaceful world. 

“Utilizing International Women’s Day as a platform to distinguish two outstanding diplomats and the tireless role that they have played in supporting women’s rights is an honor for SCI. We are delighted to recognize the Honorable Jayne Plank and the Honorable Robin Sanders today for their amazing contributions and leadership in the field of diplomacy,” said Mary D.
